A set of Taiwan pop singer-actor Alec Su’s personal stamp collection was launched by the Red Cross Society of China and the Chinese Red Cross Foundation on Wednesday, Beijing News reported.

The purpose of launching the stamp collection is to commend his generous contributions following the May 12 earthquake in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

Alec Su donated 100,000 Yuan to post-quake reconstruction efforts and offered financial help to build a new school in Sichuan.

With the sale of every set of the stamps, one yuan will be donated to the quake zones, the report said.

Director John Woo wants his new film “Red Cliff” to have a memorable opening, and the construction of a massive set where the film will premiere started one week ahead of time.

The tourism hotspot Wuhou Memorial Temple in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, where “Red Cliff” will have its global premiere on July 3, welcomed on Wednesday the arrival of ten cargo trucks loaded with equipment, West China Metropolis Daily reports.

On the trucks were sound and stage lighting instrument worth over one million yuan (145,679 U.S. dollars), the newspaper says.

At the center stage, workers have repainted the old red wall, and in the following days they will install complex stage decorations and several LCD walls.

Because “Red Cliff” is about a historical battle in 208 AD during the Three Kingdoms period, rows of ancient battle drums will be displayed at the sides of the stage.

On the night of the premiere, the number of performers will excel 2,000, West China Metropolis Daily says. A hundred relief workers of the Sichuan earthquake will be invited to the event, and ten of them will walk the red carpet with film stars.

Wuhou Memorial Temple was chosen to host the premiere because it was built to pay tribute to Zhuge Liang, a legendary military strategist in the Three Kingdoms period who is one of the protagonists in “Red Cliff,” portrayed by Takeshi Kaneshiro.

The film, to be released in two segments, also features Tony Leung, Chang Chen, Chiling Lin, and Zhao Wei.

Ok, a tiny bit late, but I had to wait till the clip they videoed get sent to Wei Wei (which it did on the 14th).

On the March 2nd and March 9th, branches of Vicki Fan Club in Vietnam ( 越南薇星之家 - Việt Nam Vy tinh chi gia) met in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, respectively, to celebrate her birthday! The biggest regret of my year so far is being in Hanoi for 3 months, from December to February, and then having to fly back to Sydney for university on March 1st (Yes, can you believe it??), so missed the party! But anyway, I did get the FC t-shirt so it wasn’t a complete loss. :D

Anyway, enough rambling, here is the birthday message from 越南薇星之家 on 8787 forums - with pictures.

These are a collection of clips from fans all round the world wishing Vicki a happy birthday, including a clip from 越南薇星之家 - Hanoi (second video)

1. Clip 1

2. Clip 2

And here is the full video of birthday wishes from 越南薇星之家 - Hanoi:

Here’s the URL if you can’t watch it directly on here

The official Vicki Fan Club, Vietnam forums also opened on March 12th in honour of Vicki’s birthday - you can visit it at http://www.zhaowei.vn.

On the announcement day, Vicki Zhao revealed that she was the fattest she ever was when acting in Princess Returning Pearl. “In fact, I was the fattest I ever was when acting in Princess Returning Pearl. There was one scene in which Alec Su nearly could not catch me.”

Back in July of 2004, I thought I was among the most passionate AV fans. I did not hesitate to purchase AV Odyssey’s first domain name (av-odyssey.org) and began at once constructing the site full of AV medias, news, and images. Now, almost four years later, that passion began draining. I can no longer consider myself an AV fan. I had, more than once, wanted to give up the site.

But even when the passion is no longer present, the obligations remain. I cannot shut down the site when there are still projects left hanging. I cannot shut down the site when you have not given up on me, despite my constant failure to keep up with your expectations.

And today, I wish not to give the excuse of “I’m too busy to work on AV Odyssey”. I am not here to give an empty promise either. I only wish to apologize for my neglect, for the lack of updates at AV Odyssey.

As well, I’m happy to announce that I’ve re-uploaded all medias once shared at AV Odyssey. Unfortunately, I have yet created pages to display them. But all the same, you can download them straight from our directory:

Of course, you must now be pondering about the status of “Old House Has Joy”. On April 20th, the project will resume. This summer will see its completion, no doubt. I would also like to take this moment to thank Isabelle for her continuous and tremendous help in the project. Without Isabelle, I highly doubt I can give word on this project’s completion.

Meanwhile, I will continue to update this blog with birthday greetings and keep our VIP section up-to-date.

Regards,
TkN
